FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The questions below are the ones clients ask most often before booking, answered directly and without qualification. They cover contracts and deposits, how music selections and exclusions are handled, the equipment we provide, travel, and what takes place on the day itself.
Booking and contracts
Reserving Your Date
Do you provide a written contract?
Yes. Every booking is confirmed by written contract. The agreement protects both parties and establishes a shared understanding of the schedule, the services included, and the expectations for the event.
How far in advance should we book?
Saturday dates between June and October are committed first, frequently twelve to eighteen months in advance, with autumn foliage weekends the earliest of all. Winter dates, weekdays, and Sunday dates are more often available at shorter notice and typically represent better value. Inquiries regarding near-term dates remain worthwhile, as circumstances change and dates become available.
May we meet before booking?
Yes, and we recommend it. Consultations may be conducted in person, by telephone, or by video, at no charge and without obligation. Clients should be acquainted with the person providing services at their event before committing to an engagement.
How do we contact you during planning?
You may reach us by whichever means you prefer, including in person, by telephone, by text message, or by email. Max remains available throughout the planning period rather than only in its final stages.
Music
Your Music, Your Way
Will you work from our selections and our excluded list?
Yes. Clients have supplied complete lists to be played in a specified order without deviation, and others have delegated the selection entirely. Both approaches are accommodated. Excluded selections are honored without exception, including against guest requests.
Do you accept requests from guests?
That decision rests with you. Some clients prefer to adhere to a planned program, while others welcome guest participation. Requests may also be submitted by text message during the reception. No excluded selection is played, and no unanticipated selection is played without prior consultation.
How extensive is your music library?
The working library exceeds 20,000 titles, and any material not already held is acquired at no additional charge. No standard wedding program is applied. Because planning is conducted in detail beforehand, your expectations are established well in advance of the event.
Will there be intervals between selections?
No. We operate professional DJ software on a dedicated controller, which allows selections to be mixed continuously. Unless intervals are specifically requested, none will occur.
What is your approach if guests are not dancing?
The circumstance is uncommon, and it is correctable. Assessing a gathering and adjusting accordingly is the greater part of the skill involved. With your agreement, Max will also move onto the floor and speak with guests directly. In the substantial majority of events, the situation does not arise.
At the event
On the Day Itself
Do you provide master of ceremonies services?
Yes. Master of ceremonies services are included as standard at every wedding. Announcements and formalities constitute a core element of the service rather than a paid enhancement.
Do you take breaks during the reception?
No. Coverage is continuous. At an extended event, a brief absence during dinner service may occur, but there is no interruption in coverage.
What will you wear?
Max wears a black button-down shirt or polo, black dress trousers, and black shoes, selected deliberately so that the DJ does not draw attention. Alternative attire is accommodated on request.
How early do you arrive?
We arrive at least two to three hours before the event. We coordinate with the venue staff, and we set up and check all of our equipment so that everything is ready for your event.
What is your contingency for adverse weather?
Every outdoor booking includes a contingency plan established in advance. The plan specifies the alternate location for sound, the time required to relocate, and the person responsible for that decision and when it is made. Equipment is protected at the first indication of precipitation rather than afterward.
Equipment and logistics
Sound, Travel, and Coverage
What equipment do you provide?
A typical system comprises two JBL EON 615 powered loudspeakers, professional DJ software operating on a dedicated controller, dance floor lighting, and wireless handheld and lapel microphones. All of it is included in the service price.
The configuration is also deliberately compact, providing substantial output from a limited footprint and preserving usable floor area for guests.
What is your travel radius?
Travel is included within 50 miles of Lake Placid, New York. Engagements beyond that distance are accepted regularly, including in Vermont and New Hampshire, with travel quoted in advance.
Do you carry liability insurance?
Yes. We can provide the venue with proof of liability insurance according to its requirements, with the venue named on the certificate.
Pricing
Clear Costs Before You Book
What does your pricing include?
Our pricing includes travel within 50 miles, the complete DJ configuration, acquisition of any music not already held, and full setup and removal. There are no undisclosed charges. Additional equipment or lighting beyond the standard configuration is quoted in advance of booking.
Can you accommodate a defined budget?
Please tell us the figure. We will identify an arrangement that is equitable for both parties wherever possible.
Is a deposit required?
Yes. A deposit of fifty percent (50%) is required upon the signing of the contract, with the remainder due upon our arrival at the event venue.
What is your cancellation policy?
Because the Adirondack event calendar is tightly scheduled, we require cancellation at least 60 days before the event for the return of your deposit.
